THEN AT 7:00pm, Caleb J Cowles, Sanitarian for the City of New Britain and President of the Connecticut Association of Housing Code Enforcement Officials (CAHCEO) will make a presentation on the recent 3 million dollars of new funding available for New Britain properties to abatement of lead hazards. This is grant money and a great opportunity for owners to pro-actively upgrade their facilities. Margaret Malinowski from New Britain Department of Municipal Development will talk specifically about the process of the Healthy Homes New Britain Grant and she will bring some applications.
Caleb Cowles is also heading a working group that includes CTPOA President Bob DeCosmo that is studying instituting a Uniform Statewide Property Maintenance Code. House Bill, H.B. #5177 has been written in an effort to make this a law. The International Code Council's 2015 edition of its Uniform Property Maintenance Code is being examined....questions will also be addressed on this topic at this event.
